In a shocking case of workplace exploitation, an employee recently shared how his manager expected him to work 13-14 hours a day—all for a salary of just ₹3.8 LPA (around ₹32,000 per month). When he refused, the manager publicly reprimanded him in a Telegram group, making it clear that questioning excessive work hours was not an option.
The post, originally shared by Reddit user ‘Ok-Context-2230,’ included a screenshot of the manager’s stern messages in Hindi. The viral message read:

“@all int team, I need day and night support until the 25th, so no one has been assigned fixed office hours. If anyone has an issue, let me know now and give me a call—I will listen to everyone’s concerns and resolve them.”
The message made it clear that employees were expected to be available round-the-clock until the deadline.
Manager’s ‘Comply or Leave’ Warning
The Redditor revealed that after refusing to work beyond standard hours, the manager sent another message reminding everyone that they had only two options—comply or leave:
“There should be no gaps in work. If anyone feels the pressure is too much, talk to Batra Sir or request a team change.”
This incident has sparked discussions about toxic work culture, employee rights, and the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Many online users have criticized the manager’s attitude, calling it an example of corporate exploitation in India.
Would you tolerate such work conditions?
Safe to say, the internet was not happy. Many called out the blatant toxicity in work culture and suggested that the employee simply leave. Some pointed out how Rs 32,000 per month is nowhere near enough compensation for working these insane hours. Others were more surprised that Telegram was being used for official communication.
