In 2024, Indians got more UK visas than any other country — both for jobs and education. Out of around 3.7 lakh total UK work visas, over 81,000 went to Indians. That’s 22% of all work permits. For student visas, it’s the same story. Out of 4.19 lakh student visas, 92,355 were given to Indian students — around 23%.
“UK visa was faster than I expected,” said Rahul Meena, a software developer from Delhi.
“I got a job offer and my work visa came in just 3 weeks.”
Most Indians are applying for UK skilled worker visas, healthcare jobs, and IT roles. On the student side, people prefer the UK because of good universities, English-speaking courses, and the graduate visa, which lets them work for two years after studying.
“My cousin is studying in Manchester and got a part-time job easily,” said Sneha Verma, a student from Lucknow. “That’s why I’m applying too.”
Even though visa rules changed this year, with fewer dependents allowed and higher salary requirements, Indians still top the list. The UK continues to be one of the most searched countries for jobs abroad, student visas, and work opportunities for Indians.
