For decades, Bengaluru was known as the perfect city to live in. It had everything—pleasant weather, top-tier job opportunities, high salaries, and a comfortable standard of living. It was a place where people could chase their dreams while enjoying the best of urban and natural life. But lately, something has changed.

A Bengaluru resident recently shared a heartfelt post on Reddit’s r/bengaluru, titled “Why living in Bengaluru has become irritable recently.” His words struck a nerve with thousands, igniting a conversation that many have been avoiding.

Has Bengaluru lost its charm?

A City That No Longer Feels Like Home

The man, born and raised in Basavanagudi, later moved to RR Nagar, carrying with him fond childhood memories of a city that once felt welcoming. But his daily commute to MG Road turned into an eye-opening experience—Bengaluru was no longer the city he once knew.

“The dust, the pollution, the chaos—every day, it feels like the city is crumbling around us,” he wrote.

A Battle Against Dust and Pollution

He described how Bengaluru’s air quality has taken a drastic hit. Vehicles are coated in layers of dust even when parked indoors. The once-green city is now a maze of unfinished roads, sand, and construction debris, making breathing difficult for anyone with respiratory issues.

For a place once known for its lush gardens and fresh air, this transformation is devastating.

A City Drowning in Its Own Filth

The resident also pointed out how public cleanliness has deteriorated. Littering has become common, with plastic waste and alcohol bottles scattered across footpaths. In some places, footpaths are not just covered in garbage—but have turned into garbage dumps themselves.

“People spit on roads, sometimes even at fellow commuters. It feels disgusting to walk around,” he wrote.

A City That Feels Suffocating

With Bengaluru’s population skyrocketing, the city feels overcrowded beyond control. The metro, which was supposed to be a solution, is packed even at 7:30 in the morning. Public spaces are always swarming with people, and roads are a never-ending traffic nightmare.

“There is no peace here anymore,” he added.

The Middle Class Is Being Left Behind

Another painful reality the resident highlighted was how the middle class feels neglected. While government benefits are directed elsewhere, hard-working, tax-paying citizens feel abandoned. Their struggles are invisible, their complaints unheard.

“All in all, starting to dislike this once great city,” he concluded.

The Internet Reacts—Has Bengaluru Reached Its Breaking Point?

His post sparked a flood of responses, with thousands agreeing that Bengaluru is not what it used to be. From infrastructure issues to traffic chaos, the city is beginning to feel unlivable.

But the real question remains — is there still hope for Bengaluru? Or is it too late to save the city from its own downfall?
